SOL 4.3
​I can learn how media messages are constructed and for what purposes.

All media has an audience. The audience is the PERSON or PERSONS meant to see the message.

All media has a purpose. The purpose is WHY the message is being sent. Is it intended to persuade, inform, entertain, sell, or a combination of these?  
4.3 a) Differentiate between auditory, visual, and written media messages. 
4.3 b) Identify the characteristics of various media messages.
  • Auditory media can be heard.
    • For example:  music, radio, speeches, video, etc.
  • Visual media can be seen.
    • For example: television, videos, web-based materials, posters, etc. 
  • Written media includes text that is read.
    • For example: newspapers, magazines, books, advertising, etc.
