Our classroom is just that... it's OURS, so we should take pride in it. It should reflect those who enter its doors every day to learn; therefore, we must take care of it. Classroom duties are assigned each nine weeks.
Classroom Manager - Ensures duties are satisfactorily completed and our room is in order before dismissal.
Treasurer - Manages the class's collection of Hodges Manor Mustangs we receive from Encore teachers.
Census Agent - Counts the number of students to ensure everyone is accounted for before traveling through the building.
Office Clerk - Responsible for distributing offices/cover sheets for testing and collecting them in order. This student will ensure that no one writes or draws on the offices or cover sheets.
Marker Parker - Puts all dry erase markers back in their "tip-down" position at the end of each day.
Carpenter - This student will be responsible for sharpening Mr. Price's pencils each afternoon and emptying the shavings bin at the end of each week.
Dust Buster - Uses the duster to carefully clean the dust off surfaces around the room (throughout the week, small section each day).
Bathroom Monitor (1 Boy/1 Girl) - Helps keep our visit to the hallway bathroom quick, clean, and quiet.
Cafeteria Monitor - Ensures our class follows the cafeteria rules for entering the lunch line: no more than five students inside the serving line at the time. This student also helps make sure everyone has cleaned up all their trash.
Hector Collector - Collects papers from the class as instructed by Mr. Price, clips them together, and places them in the SUBMIT bin.
Door Holder - Walks second in line to hold door(s) for classmates. This student may resume his/her position in line once the class has entered/exited.
Caboose - This student will "bring up the rear" when traveling in lines. This student will help Mr. Price monitor the line for appropriate behavior (PBIS). The Caboose makes sure lights are turned out and doors are shut when leaving the room.
Homework Checker- Helps Mr. Price collect and organize homework submissions on Friday. Lets Mr. Price know who doesn't have homework completed during the week. If this student does not complete her/his own homework, s/he will not be allowed to check others'.
Board Lord - Erases the whiteboard, as instructed by Mr. Price, and cleans the board with designated cleansing wipes at the end of each week.
Calendar Cop - Prepares the class calendar at the end of each day to show the correct information for the next class period. (On weeks where the month changes, the Calendar Cop may select a classmate to help change the dates.)
Word Wall Wizard - Responsible for updating the Google Slides for our Word Wall.
Messenger - Delivers messages from Mr. Price to the office or another teacher(s). Checks Mr. Price's mailbox at the end of lunch.
Librarian - Makes sure that all books are organized and neatly arranged in the classroom library.
Custodian - Helps keep the floor scuff-free and clear of trash. Wipes down big tables on Friday. Sprays Lysol in common areas as directed by Mr. Price
Gardener - Makes sure the classroom plants are watered every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings. Equipment Manager - Passes out supply bins when necessary (glue sticks, scissors, etc.).
Light Keeper - Responsible for switching classroom lamps on each morning and off each afternoon.
Sign Manager - Displays door signs as needed during classroom testing, bathroom rotations, or when the restroom is out of order.
Technology Tech (2) - Makes sure that computers are turned on each Monday morning and properly shut down before dismissal on Friday. These students are responsible for ensuring our iPads are neatly stored and charged for the weekend (or as needed).
Candyman - Helps distribute class rewards as necessary.
Star Tsar - Responsible for monitoring the daily distribution of Super Star awards. Counts the spent stars after the Star Store closes on First Fridays.
Rag Slinger (3) - These students will help clean tables in the cafeteria after lunch. Each slinger will wipe down one of the three tables before departing the cafeteria. Substitute/Assistant - Covers the duties of absent students and assists classmates in performing other duties. If two or more students are absent, the substitute may enlist the help of his/her classmates.
